Tibet Travel Permit: Policy Changes & Feasible Solutions

From May 2012, Tibet Travel Permits will only be issued to groups of 5 or more persons with the same nationality, traveling on the same flight/train/vehicle from the same city to Tibet. Click our Tibet Tour Group List to find your countrymates to join the group or start a new group.

Day 1: Arrival/Shanghai: Airport to Hotel Transfer (Shanghai)
Arrive in Shanghai, our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at your own leisure.

Day 2: Shanghai (B L D): Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Bund, Huangpu River Cruise, Acrobatic Show
This morning, visit Yu Garden (UNESCO), which is a famous ancient private garden with architectures of Ming and Qing dynasties. Then head to the Jade Buddha Temple where two rare jade statues of Sakyamuni Buddha are treasured. Continue to visit the Bund-Shanghai's famous riverfront and have a short cruise on Huangpu River which is one of the best ways to see both old and new Shanghai. In the evening enjoy a spectacular Acrobatic Show for your entertainment, which is one of the most famous performance arts in China.

Day 3: Shanghai/Lhasa (B): Hotel to Airport Transfer (Shanghai), Airport to Hotel Transfer (Lhasa)
Leisure and fly to Lhasa. Arrive at Lhasa, meet the guide and transfer to Lhasa City. For the rest of the day you will be at leisure for acclimatization or visit local bazaar on your own.

Day 4: Lhasa (B L): Potala Palace, Sera Monastery
A guided tour to the Lhasa's cardinal landmark - Potala Palace (UNESCO), which is the most visited monument in Tibet because of its grandeur and beauty. Then head to the Sera Monastery, one of three famous monasteries in Lhasa.

Day 5: Lhasa (B L): Jokhang Temple, Norbulingkha
Have a visit to the spiritual center of Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, one of the most famous holy destinations in Tibet, also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards visit Norbulingkha, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama.

Day 6: Lhasa/Tsedang (B L D): Yamdruktso Lake
Drive to Tsedang. On the way, visit Yamdruktso Lake, one of the three largest lakes of Tibet, lying about a hundred kilometers to the southwest of Lhasa. Then drive to Tsedang. Check in at Tsedang Hotel. (270KM, Approximately 7 more hrs driving)

Day 7: Tsedang (B L D): Samye Monastery, Yumbulakhang Palace, Tradruk Temple
Drive to Samye Monastery, which is thought to be the 1st monastery in history of Tibet. Then visit Yumbulakhang Palace and Tradruk Temple after lunch. Check in at Tsedang Hotel. (100KM unpaved road. Approximately 3 more hrs driving)

Day 8: Lhasa/Chengdu (B): Hotel to Airport Transfer (Lhasa), Airport to Hotel Transfer (Chengdu)
In the morning, transfer to the airport and fly to Chengdu. Upon arrival, met and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax after your Tibetan experience.

Day 9: Chengdu/Leshan/Chengdu (B L): Leshan Giant Buddha
Have a visit to the Leshan Giant Buddha (UNESCO) - one of the most magnificent tourist attractions in Sichuan Province. You will take a short cruise to view this biggest carved stone Buddha in the world.

Day 10: Chengdu/Guiliin (B L): Giant Panda Breeding Center, Hotel to Airport Transfer (Chengdu), Airport to Hotel Transfer (Guilin)
Today’s highlight is the visit to the Giant Panda Breeding Center, where you’ll see this lovely creature up close and learn about its habitat and evolution. Then fly to Shanghai. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.

Day 11: Guilin/Yangshuo (B L): Li River cruise
This morning, the comfortable Li River cruise will take approximately 4 hours, carrying you away from the bustle of city life and into a peaceful and relaxing world. The rest of day is free in Yangshuo. You could have a pot of tea in a sidewalk cafe on the West Street and enjoy the unique cultures there.

Day 12: Yangshuo/Departure (B L): Hotel to Airport Transfer (Guilin)
After breakfast, take an excursion to a village in the countryside, Bamboo boat on the Yulong River, and then go to Moon Hill, climbing to the top to enjoy an amazing view of rural China. Transfer to the airport for departure. Service ends.
