Day 1: Arrival/Dunhuang
Airport to Hotel Transfer
Upon arrival at Dunhuang, meet our local guide and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free at your own leisure.
Day 2: Dunhuang (B L )
Mogao Grottoes, Gobi Desert, camel ride, Crescent Lake
Visit the World Heritage Site - Mogao Grottoes (UNECO), which is the world's most important site of ancient Buddhist Culture. In the afternoon take an excursion to the Gobi Desert, the largest desert in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. Take a camel ride through towering yellow sand dunes, a picture-look desert scenery like no other over the entire length of the Silk Roak. Then visit the small and mysterious Crescent Lake.
Day 3: Dunhuang/Urumqi (B)
Hotel to Airport Transfer (Dunhuang), Airport to Hotel Transfer (Urumqi)
After a morning at leisure in Dunhuang, take a flight to Urumqi, the capical of the Xinjiang Region.
Day 4: Urumqi/Turpan (B L D)
Ruins of Jiaohe, Ancient Karez, Sugong Pagoda
In the morning, drive for 2&half hours southeast from Urumqi to Turpan, a Uyghur town set in a large oasis surrounded by desert and dry mountains. Upon arrival, take a visit to the mysterious death city - the Ruins of Jiaohe, which reveals traces of a prosperous ancient trading center and military stronghold about 1600 years ago. And then visit the Ancient Karez, the underground water supply & irrigation system and its Museum. In the afternoon, visit the Sugong Pagoda - a very famous Islamic tower.
Day 5: Turpan (B L D)
Gaochang Ancient Ruins, Astana Tombs, Flaming Mountains, Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves, Hotel to Airport Transfer (Dunhuang)
Take a visit to the Gaochang Ancient Ruins - 45 kilometers to the south of the crater. Then approach the Astana Tombs - known as “The Underground Museum” and highly regarded by Chinese and foreign archaeologists and historians. Afterwards, visit the Flaming Mountains - red sandstone hills that appear engulfed by tongues of fire when the sun beats hard upon them and the Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves which situated at a gorgeous site high above a river gorge.
Day 6: Trupan/Urumqi/Kashgar (B L)
Hotel to Airport Transfer (Urumqi), Airport to Hotel Transfer (Kashgar)
Drive to Urumqi and then after lunch fly to Kashgar.
Day 7: Kashgar/Karakol Lake (B L)
Karakol Lake
Coach tour through the Karakurum Highway to Karakol Lake(180km), enjoy the beautiful snow - capped mountain of Muztagh Ata and the lake.
Day 8: Kashgar (B L)
Abakh Hoja Tomb, Old Town of Kashgar, Handicraft Street
Visit the Abakh Hoja Tomb, situated in magnificent blue and white buildings topped with a green dome and small minatets, reminicent of the Central Asia artistic style of Samarkand. the tomb is the holiest place in Xinjiang, with the magnificent tomb of Xiangfei, the grand daughter of Abakh Hoja. Visit he Old Town of Kashgar in the afternoon, which will bring you thousand years afar back to a paramilitary age. Then go to the Ldkah Mosque, the largest mosque in China and the religious center of Kashgar. At last, explore the Handicraft Street of the city.
Day 9: Kashgar/Khotan (B L D)
Mosque, Mausoleum with the tombs of the Yarkant Kings
Drive from Kashgar to Khotan. In the way, stop at Yarkant, an important trade center. Visit the Mosque and the Mausoleum with the tombs of the Yarkant Kings.
Day 10: Khotan (B L D)
jade, silk and carpets factories, Sunday Market
In the morning, visit jade, silk and carpets factories. The afternoon visit the world famous famous Khotan Sunday Market, the largest outdoor market in mid-Asia.
Day 11: Khotan (B L)
Khotan
Take a half-day tour of Khotan and some of the nearby tourist attractions. The rest of the day will be at leisure or dedicated to shopping for locally made items.
Day 12: Khotan/Aksu (B L)
Taklamakan Desert
Cross the entire Taklamakan Desert from south to north. The first part of the road is mostly straight with few traffic. This stretch of road offers the best views of the desert. The second part has some traffic and great views of cotton fields.
Day 13 : Aksu/Kuche (B L)
Bazelik Thousand Buddha Caves
Drive to Kuche and in the way visit the Bazelik Thousand Buddha Caves, which is located in a gorgereous valley of Flaming Mountain.
Day 14: Kuche (B L)
the Ancient City of Subashi, Kezikalahan War-Signaling Station, Kucha Mosque, home of a local Uygur woman
Visit the extensive ruin of the Ancient City of Subashi where the street plan can be identified and some of the 20-feet hight walls are still standing. Next visit the Kezikalahan War-Signaling Station, the best preserved sigaling station, dating back to the Han Dynasty. A short stroll in the market will follow. In the afternoon visit the imposing Kucha Mosque, a delightfully neat building with a green-titled dome and two tall minarets on its facaed. At last visit the home of a local Uygur woman.
Day 15: Kuche (B L)
Kuche Friday Bazaar
Visit the Kuche Friday Bazaar, where over 30,000 people converge on the alleys and streets of both old and new towns to buy and sell all kinds of good. The afternoon will be at leisure.
Day 16: Kuche/Urumqi (B L)
local Kazak family, International Grand Bazaar
Go back to Urumqi and visit a local Kazak family and the International Grand Bazaar.
Day 17: Urumqi (B L)
Heavenly Lake
Drive to Heavenly Lake, (one of the ten big natural scenic spots of China) with an elevation of 2000 meters above sea level. Enjoy a picnic lunch with a Kazak family.
Day 18: Urumqi/Departure
Hotel to Airport Transfer (Urumqi)
Transfer to the Urumqi Airport for departure. Service ends.
