What's the schedule of the train from Beijing to Ulan Bator and Beijing to Moscow?

Train 23 runs from Beijing to Ulan Bator on Tuesdays, also Mondays from late June to late October 2011. Please double-check days of running when you book the train tickets. The train has deluxe 2-berth, soft class 4-berth & hard class 4-berth.

Trains 3 & 19 from Beijing to Moscow can usually only be used for international journeys rather than internal journeys wholly within Russia. If you want to stop off at Irkutsk (for example), book a Russian internal train (for example the 'Rossiya' or the 'Baikal') for the journey between Irkutsk and Moscow.

Train 3 may also not take passengers from Beijing to Ulan Bator, at least in the peak summer season, as it is largely reserved for passengers going through to Russia. Beijing- Ulan Bator passengers should take train 23 instead.

What's the earliest I can pick up the ticket? I need it to apply for a transit visa to Russia.

Generally, we issue the tickets in the first week of the departure month. According to request of guests, we can issue the tickets in advance. But once the tickets are issued before its departure month, it can not be cancelled. If you cancel your booking in such case, there will be 100% cancellation charge.

Do I need the voucher when I pick up the ticket?

Yes, please take the voucher with you when coming to our office to pick up the train tickets.

What is the cabin type of the train for Trans-Siberia?

The Chinese classify sleeper types differently from the Russians, so westbound trains 3 & 19 from Beijing to Moscow are shown as having '3rd class', but this is in fact the same 4-berth sleepers shown on eastbound trains as 2nd class. '2nd class' on train 3 is what other agencies call 1st class 4-berth. There is no platskartny or Chinese-style hard class on trains 3/4 or 19/20, so any mention of 3rd class or hard class on these trains actually means 4-berth sleepers.
