This tour covers major highlights: Beijing's imperial Forbidden City and the Great Wall; Xian's Terra-cotta Warriors; 3-night cruise on the fabled Yangtze River, sailing through the Three Gorges and touring the world's largest dam. You then fly to the Shanghai, China's most modern metropolis. Before your journey wraps up at Hong Kong, China's most vibrant metropolis, you also visit subtropical Guilin - China's scenic paradise, and indulge yourself in the stunning Li River cruise.

Schedule Details

Day 1 Beijing
Upon arrival, meet your private guide and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore China's historic and vibrant capital city on your own.
Day 2 Beijing
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Your first peek into Beijing begins with Tian’anmen Square, the world’s largest and renowned public square where many historical events once took place.
Then walk into the Forbidden City (UNESCO), where the 24 emperors of the Ming and the Qing Dynasties ruled for nearly 500 years (1420-1911). Experience the architectural splendor of the palaces, ceremonial courtyards and private quarters.
Visit a silk gift shop en route.
After the lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven (UNESCO), where ancient Chinese emperors would make sacrifices to Heaven and pray for good harvests.
Good to know: Usually the guide service for a full day tour is about from 9:00 to 17:00, and the evening time is on your own. If needed, your guide is happy to offer some tips or help you buy tickets for evening entertainment.
Ideas for leisure time: If you are interested in Chinese Kung Fu, the Legend of Kung Fu is a good choice for tonight. It is stunning Kung Fu show with a great story line and martial arts skills.
Day 3 Beijing
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Today setting out to the China's most renowned monument - Great Wall (UNESCO) which is the most spectacular structures ever built by humans and as the only one visible from space.
Take a stop at a cloisonné workshop en route.
After lunch, visit the Lama Temple. Initially built as a prince residence in 1694 and later transformed into a royal resort palace, the temple finally became the Tibetan Buddhist temple as we know today, which has the largest sandalwood Buddha in the world.
Ideas for leisure time: 1. Enjoy the Peking Duck dinner at time-honored restaurant - Quanjude or Bianyifang. The duck is characteristic with its crispy skin, tender meat and the fragrance from the fruit-wood.
2. Watch a breathtaking acrobatic show at Chaoyang Theater or Tiandi Theater.
Day 4 Beijing – Xi’an (by air)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Today you will visit another renowned imperial site, the Summer Palace (UNESCO), the largest imperial garden in the world.
Then transfer to take a flight to Xi’an, which was the ancient capital for 11 dynasties and was east end of the Silk Road.
On arrival, meet and transfer to your hotel.
Day 5 Xi’an
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Today's excursion will take you to the Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses (UNESCO), one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the world. More than 6000 life-sized terra cotta warriors, archers, infantrymen, horses and bronze chariots silently guarded the tomb of China's First Emperor for over 2,200 years.
A short stop at the ceramics & pottery workshop en route.
Then head to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Tang Dynasty landmark. This seven-story pagoda was initially constructed in 652 AD, and a larger team of scholars was organized here for translation of the Buddhist sutras brought back from India and it became a holy place for pilgrimages.
Ideas for leisure time: Enjoy a tasteful Dumpling Banquet followed by an exquisite traditional Tang Dynasty Show.
Good to know: If you have an extra day in Xi’an, you could explore the Mount Hua and get impressed of its unique natural beauty. Or to take a day trip to Luoyang by bullet train and visit the Longmen Grottoes, one of the Three Most Famous Buddhist Grottoes in China.
Day 6 Xi’an –Chongqing (by air) - Yangtze Cruise
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Your day will start with a tour of Ancient City Wall, which is one of the oldest walls in China and still compasses the center of Xi'an.
Then transfer for a flight to Chongqing.
On arrival, transfer and embark your 3-night downstream cruise on Yangtze River, the third longest in the world and the largest in China. The Yangtze River originates on the Tibetan Plateau and traverses a distance of 3900 miles before flowing into the East China Sea, near Shanghai. It has been the lifeline in China for millennia.
Day 7 Yangtze Cruise
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch,dinner
Today, start sailing for a distance of 430 miles in all the great gorges. In the morning, you could enjoy the spectacular view from the deck or you could take an optional tour to Fengdu - China's "City of Ghosts" (CNY 280 per person). In legend, Fengdu was a ghost city and the entrance of heaven or hell, and the imaged ghost statures here reveal ancient Chinese religion and belief.
After lunch, take a shore excursion to the Shibaozhai. The Shibaozhai is a 12-storey wooden pavilion built in the Ming Dynasty, which looks like a giant bonsai on the Yangtze River. A cofferdam was built around the Shibaozhai to protect it from the rising water level caused by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam.
After returning to the cruise, you will be invited to the Captain's Welcome Party.
Day 8 Yangtze Cruise
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch,dinner
This morning sail into Qutang Gorge, the shortest, narrowest and probably the most fascinating one. Later sail through Wu Gorge. It is well-known for the legend of 12 fairy maidens became the 12 peaks of Wu Gorge.
Then you could take an optional tour to White Emperor Town, which is famous for historical temples and legends (CNY 280 per person).
After lunch change to the "peapod" boat for sailing deep into the Shennong Stream for a 3 hours exploration. The contrasting heights of these gorges and the narrowness of the river make this area one of the most dramatic scenes in the world. Notice the ruins of the ancient plank road along the cliff face as well as the coffins suspended from the cliffs above.
Afterwards, sail through the Five-step Ship Lock.
Day 9 Yangtze Cruise - Yichang - Shanghai (by air)
Meals: Breakfast
In the morning take a shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam Site, the largest dam and hydroelectric project in the world.
Then sail down the Xiling Gorge.
Later, disembark at Yichang and transfer for a flight to Shanghai.
On arrival, meet and transfer to your hotel.
Ideas for leisure time: If you arrives at early afternoon and have no plans, you could take an optional trip to Zhujiajiao. With a history of 1700 years, this is an ancient water town prized for its lovely rivers, stone bridges, and historical buildings.
Day 10 Shanghai
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
A full day tour begins with the Yu Garden (UNESCO). Owing to its ingenious design in Ming and Qing dynasties, it becomes a real museum of Chinese ancient architecture. Walk around the Old Downtown with its maze of walkways, reflecting ponds, pavilions and stone bridges.
Then head to the Jade Buddha Temple that is famous for two precious jade Buddhist statues. Continue to visit the Shanghai Museum, with its 120,000 piece collection of Chinese ancient treasures.
A short stop at the local gift shop en route.
Wander through the bustling Bund, featuring outstanding European colonial architectures, new skyscrapers and historical buildings in Shanghai.
Ideas for leisure time: 1. Acrobatic Shows in Shanghai are known as the best in China. You can never imagine how exciting the show is.
2.Or you could take a Huangpu River Night Cruise which is the perfect way to enjoy the gorgeous night view of Shanghai.
Day 11 Shanghai – Guilin(by air)
Meals: Breakfast,lunch
In the morning, transfer to take a flight to Guilin, which is said to be "the best scenery under heaven" for its unique karst limestone along the Li River, creating the picturesque beauty.
On arrival, visit the Fubo Hill, a perfect spot to explore the limestone karst landscape in Guilin.
Ideas for leisure time: If time permits, you should not miss a boat tour of Two Rivers and the Four Lakes. The boat is available for whole day, but the best time to go is definitely during the evening. Smooth surface of quiet water reflects the lights of the Solar and Lunar Towers.
Day 12 Guilin – Yangshuo - Guilin (by automobile)
Meals: Breakfast
In the morning, take a car ride to Yangshuo and take a bamboo rafting on Yulong River. Why not the Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo? To avoid the noise and crowd of electric boat, we truly recommend the relaxing bamboo rafting at Yangshuo. One small raft with a boatman could take two people. Sitting in a chair on the raft and floating down the Yulong River, you will be impressed by the amazing natural beauty in the countryside. After lunch, enjoy your free time in Yangshuo. In the late afternoon, take a short visit to a pearl factory and drive back to Guilin.
Ideas for leisure time in Yangshuo: 1.Yangshuo County is dotted with rolling hills, bamboo forests and local villages. Taking an optional tour with your guide and explore this scenic countryside is not a bad choice.
2.Or you could join in a 3-hour Chinese Cuisine Cookery Class. It is a great chance to learn a course of Chinese dish from local people. Your friends and family will be amazed when you make them Chinese dishes at the party.
Day 13 Guilin - Hong Kong (by air)
Meals: Breakfast
Today, transfer to take a flight to Hong Kong. With its amazing modernity and cosmopolitan culture, Hong Kong is China's dynamic financial center and home of the world's busiest port. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your Hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 14 Hong Kong
Meals: Breakfast
Today starts with a half-day tour of Hong Kong Island. Visit Victoria Peak (include One-way peak tram ride), the summit of the Hong Kong Island and get a bird-eye view of the magnificent skyline of the Victoria Harbor. Then visit the Stanley Market and drive by the Repulse Bay. Later, you visit and the Historic Fishing Village at Aberdeen with sampan ride. Their traditional lifestyle is in sharp contrast to the modern life style of those living in the high-rise communities. Afterwards, return to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 15 Hong Kong
Meals: Breakfast
Today, transfer to the airport for your flight. Service ends.
